shaving off the door handles

Post by steve8462 »

has anybody shaved their door handles off their spider? I'm tossing around the idea of removing my door handles and welding plates over the holes. grinding and smoothing to make it look like they were never there. custom street rod supply in Nashua, NH has a set of nice magnetically activated door actuators for a reasonable price. I would really like to see what it would look like with no door handles before I reach the point of no return.

I knew a local guy a while back that did that to a 73. Looked ok, but no pics.

thank you. the link worked. it doesn't look as goo as I thought. I think I might just stick to removing the plate lights on the back and replace them with lighted plate bolts.

Steve,

Brady did this on his Spider and it turned out very nice. He doesn't post here anymore but you might be able to get some better pics from him. PM me and I'll send you his email address...

Actually if you click on the magnifier twice you will get a very large image. Good luck.

Wow... That would be sharp! Make door each door "pop" via a remote.... Or open from inside.

Hmmm.
Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, we have decided to turn off the light at the end of the tunnel. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Personally I think they look much better with door handles.

I thought I would post a couple pictures of my car, I debated about taking off the door handles before I did, im not a fan of electric doors, if they don't work and that is sometimes the case you can be stuck, then you have the problem with the wires getting into the door, or on one car I did I put the latch in the door post which worked fine but then you have to figure out how to run the wires for the operator.
On my car I opted to use Corvett C2 door handles mounted on the inside but I have no side windows to get in the way then placing your hand on the top of the door your fingers are on the latch.

Brady has solenoids to pop open the door.
I wish he was still on this site.
