Any affordable chrome platers

Post by georgeramos »

I need to chrome plate 6 small parts, the bracket components to a roof rack for my wagon. Each one is comparable to an average sized doorknob for reference. i was quoted $400 by a local shop. And no, its not the same shop that ripped me on my original set of Roosevelts.

Does anyone know of an affordable chrome shop. Not looking for show car quality, just passable chrome with no pitting as it shows now.

thanks

Not sure if you still need info on this but google hydrochome. It's a relatively new technique for just your needs for small interior parts. Be sure to look at several videos regarding the process.

http://www.hanlonplating.com/ Be advised that this is the busiest time of the year for this service, with everybody from motorcyclists to boaters doing refurbishment.

i had the parts powdercoated black as I did not find affordable chrome. they look great on the car as it already had some black/chrome accents. the parts in question are the brackets for the roof rack...

Thank you. Its been very finicky. Going through several of the exact same issues i had with my Spider but its a great fun and surprisingly roomy car! I will be tackling electrics soon. New ignition, new stalk switch, 4 or 5 relays powered by a distribution box. I cant wait to kill some of the gremlins! The answer to my original post is no. There are no affordable chrome platers because its nasty, toxic, challenging and time consuming work when done right. Makes sense to me.
