cruise control.

I just finished an install of an Audiovox Ultracruise II unit, in my 73. Overall, it went fairly well. There are a couple of errors/inconsistencies in the Audiovox installation manual, but I figured it out mostly. The unit I installed doesn't need a vacuum line, as it has the electronic controlled servo built in.

I ended up removing the throttle cable and knob from below the steering wheel, and reusing that fitting and opening for the cruise control cable - it seemed almost a perfect use for an unused feature. I ended up installing the interrupter switch on the brake pedal rather than the clutch pedal, as the switch for the clutch electro-valve would have interfered with the cruise control switch. I did have to make a custom bracket to mount the switch assembly, and it was tricky to get the alignment correct for the switch to work, but all in all, it wasn't that bad of a job.

Now I have beautiful, perfect cruise control, like in a modern vehicle. I did install the control switch into the front ashtray, behind the stick shift, as another fiatspider.com member had done. Any questions, send me a note.
