How large are the bolts you guys used to connect the lip?

I used 1/4" 20 x 1" hex head and loctite. Probably an over kill. Probably # 10's would work but that would be at the minimum I think.

Never thought about a rubber gasket. I will try. It's that there is a small gap where the light doesn't curve. Picky I guess.

... hence why I'm going to experiment with a heat gun... just needs a *little* bit of coaxing into a curve... not much... just a teeny bit.... and then a gasket

Can you actually put some curve in the light with a heat gun.

Yep - I've got a pair of the same turn signals which I'm probably going to fit on my FI. I've got VW signals on my 1800 which actually work pretty well (as they're slightly curved). I'm thinking some judicious heat gun application may work!

Nice car! Great work with the turn signals. Is there not a Jeep aftermarket chrome surround out there? I know theres a huge market for dress up stuff for Jeeps!

I found the wire hub caps in a junk yard. The came off of a 60's model corvair. I took them apart and cleaned and polished them spoke by spoke. Only cost $30. I found online the center hub fiat stickers to put on them. Send me a close up pic of the one you have. The rear bumpperts came off of an MGB. As for the turn signals, I have not been able to find any kind of chrome piece that would fit them. I did have them mounted on the outside of the fender, but have now re-mounted them from behind the fender and put some under the hood seal around the hole and snugged the lights up against it. Looks a lot better. Thanks for the complement on the car. Its kind of funny what I have used to piece it together for the look I wanted.

Thanks for the post on the vw lights on eBay. I just ordered the clear version we will see how they fit.

You'll need to shape the outside edge a little (as it's curved) but they look great when in. I've got a dual led bulb in mine so they run as white running lights and amber turn signals....

The neat part is that when your running(side) lights are on and you use a turn signal the running light turns off for 2 seconds or so while the turn signal flashes. You stop the turn signal, there's a pause, and the running light comes back on.

I would suggest using a resistor on at least the turn signal, I noticed on one set I had that the turn signal just pulsed amber if the running light was on, and the resistor solved that. Some come with one, some don't.
