Grandaughter arrives for a visit this fall, and she and Grampa have been planning a trip to the nearby Sassy Cow Creamery for ice cream....in the Fiat of course! Since I'm working in the rear "seat" area now, wondering if anyone out there has cobbled together some sort of attachment for the LATCH buckles common to kids' car seats these days? One of the PO's actually drilled two hopes into the lower bulkead, exiting to the underside of the car forward of the rear axle. I can fill them with bolts, washers, nuts, and sealer, but wondered if one could be used for a LATCH compatible fixture (eyebolt, etc). LATCH anchor on the Grand Cherokee is a 1/4 inch wide steel bar. So...any ideas/recommendations
Thanks
Neil

I would not do it due to it being a safety item. There are seatbelt attachment points for a seatbelt back there.
If you want to do it go to a salvage yard and get the complete assembly from a newer car.

Re: LATCH & Spider rear "seats"
I used one of the rear seat belt mounting bolt holes to mount the kid seat anchor point to. I had the kid seat in the passenger seat with the strap to the rear finishing at the anchor point located between the rear seat base and back. Not sure whether that would be legal in your area though.

Re: LATCH & Spider rear "seats"
Thanks, Csaba, Perthling. I'll fill those holes, and see about adding the child seat strap to one of the seatbelt mounts. I have rear belts already re-installed, so adding the LATCH belt would not be a chore at all.
