Need help with MOMO steering wheel RESOLVED!

Post by 4uall »

I was lucky to purchase this awesome steering wheel however, just need a little guidance on the installation :?

Anyone put this on before? Seems pretty straight forward, I just seem to not be able to complete it. The horn can scare the crap out of you when it connects unexpectedly

I assume the difficulty you are having is figuring out what that second connection is for.

The horn button is just a simple normally open switch. The one wire coming out of the center powers the relay that powers the horn. Touch it to ground and the horns goes off. You can try your original horn button, or you can try either of the two leads on your new button (one, or either of them is the right one) . You cannot hurt anything.

Thanks, but I am good with the connection part. The issues are 1) cannot fit the thin ring onto existing hub 2) old horn does not fit with new steering wheel 3) without the thin ring new horn just moves around making contact or sticking down and blasting the horn.

I will try again tomorrow, I am determined to make it work :?

I replied to the other thread - don't use the horn button that came with the wheel. Use the original. That's what I did when I put a MOMO wheel in my '80.

With the original horn button the Momo steering wheel does not fit properly

I did notice that when looking at both old and new buttons the old one the tab is sideways and the new is not. I will try again this week/end

Hmmm - Momo must have different designs for different wheels. Mine worked just fine.

Determined to get this beautiful new (to me) steering wheel on with a functioning horn I sat down and got at it :x

First got all my stuff

Image

Bye bye original steering wheel :(

Image

Pulled the horn

Image

Tapped up the connectors

Image

Image

Still had the horn getting stuck when pressed  :? Took it out and lightly sanded the plastic and then it fit smooth and allowed the horn to depress and rise with zero issues

HONK HONK

Thanks to all

After reading this,I remembered that I had the same issue, when installing my MOMO wooden wheel.I did exactly the same thing.Worked it with a little sandpaper, and all is well.Your wheel looks fantastic!!
