The alignment specs for these cars (toe-in, camber, caster) are specified with the car fully laden, which is two passengers plus about 50 lbs of luggage. The double A-arm design of the Fiats is different from a lot of cars, especially modern ones. Most shops do not know these subtleties, so they align the car unladen and then it's wrong when you put one or two people in the car. As a result, it steers funny.FiatRunner wrote:As for the alignment, what peculiarities are there? Just wondering, I'll probably still take it to a shop anyway.
You could ask the shop to see if they have the unladen specs, or direct them to align it with two people sitting in the car. Mechanics are sometimes beefy, so you don't need the luggage.
There are shops that are familiar with all this, but not all shops. That's my reason for mentioning it.
