It takes only 5 minutes to remove the whole intake with carbs..dom wrote:How do you plan to lift the engine for installation? With the intake manifold installed you can't use a harness. I want to install manifold and carbs while the engine is out but I cant think of a way, maybe use head bolts.
I will definitely do it to prevent any damage.

Re: Special TC Engine
If somebody still interested what happened to this engine , I'll answer - Nothing !
It is still sitting in the same spot.
Just because I could not put it here -
So , everything was cleaned up a little -
And after the paint dried out and I started to put everything back together.
The hydraulics is all fitted and connected . Me and my son , we bled the brakes - all 8 bleeders , nothing leaks and the pedal is nice and stiff.
Looks like everything is ready for the engine implant.
Cleaned and painted sub-frame as well
And I just got these today

why not directly use a pump that would push only 3psi ?fiat218 wrote:So I got a 79 with dual carbs, I should prolly need that to adjust the fuel so it 3psi
some are good, inexpensive, silent and easily sourceable (pierburg is pretty much used in the aircoold VWs vho run dual carbs too).
but there are others, of course.

That engine bay is beautiful and I really like your attention to detail. Do you have a spray booth, or is this all in your own garage/driveway? It looks fantastic.
It warms my heart that someone puts so much effort into a 124 sedan.

I agree, your attention to detail is terrific. Impressed and jealous as well.
Going to be a real source of pride.
Well done

Re: Special TC Engine
Thanx guys !
Unfortunately I don't do body work myself .
So I took it to the body shop.
All welding , prepping , priming and painting was done over there.
Under my supervision , of course .
And yes - details is everything.
I was taught that way - do it right , or don't do it at all.
To be continued .

Dang, amazing looking engine bay.
Just a quick note, I hope you won't be using that super-short runner header, it is very restrictive.

Re: Special TC Engine
It looks great! And looks like my first car mid 70's 128 sedan, even the color. It is a 128 correct?

This is a 124 sedan. The 128 was front wheel drive.

Duh. That makes sense. But the nose looks just a 128. Maybe the color threw me off.
Thanks C.

Re: Special TC Engine
Stock 79 TC carb linkage shortened about an inch will work the dual IDF's. Of course you will need the cams between the matched IDFs to connect to.
