Wheel hub swap??
Wheel hub swap??
Is there a way to change out bolt pattern/ wheel hub to fit different wheels/ more common wheel pattern? Has this been done this if so how? And what pattern did you go with?

Re: Wheel hub swap??
I had my hubs index drilled by a machinist. And also swapped in some hubs from an rx7 gsl and the rear end from it as well.. They are drilled to 114.3mm x 4 .. I think it would be real easy to index drill the fiat hubs to 100mm x 4 which is a very common bolt pattern.. You just have to find a machine shop equipped to do the job.

If you go that route, you will also have to drill all the brake rotors too which can be a pain as you will have to do this every time you replace the rotors.

The rotors are hub centric so precise drilling of the rotors bolt pattern is not crucial. They could just drill the existing holes on the rotors bigger with an electric drill 98mm x 4 is very close to 100mm x 4..carl wrote:If you go that route, you will also have to drill all the brake rotors too which can be a pain as you will have to do this every time you replace the rotors.

How big of a hole did you end up drilling? Was it very big or no? Could you post a pic of the hub? That you drilled out?

Re: Wheel hub swap??
First I have to point out that I do not have the stock hubs on my car I'm using a of hubs from a Mazda Rx7 gsl and the rear end as well. But the principal is the same. The hub is index drilled in a lathe. The index puts the hole in the precise location to create a new lug pattern. On my hubs I used 12mm x 1.50mm threaded studs. On my hubs the rotor and hub are all one piece. So I didn't have to drill the rotors as well.. The spiderMrbimmerdude wrote:How big of a hole did you end up drilling? Was it very big or no? Stock hubs have separate rotors so both will need to be index drilled.. And axles and rear rotors too.
Hope this gives you a better picture of how it is done..

So the 1-2gen rx7 hubs fit? Just needed to adjust the spaces needed for the studs, i have the picture just kinda sitting here drooling of the possibilities now.v6spider wrote: First I have to point out that I do not have the stock hubs on my car I'm using a of hubs from a Mazda Rx7 gsl and the rear end as well. Not a bolt on fit.. I had the hubs machined to fit as well.. Your easiest approach is to index drill the fiat hubs and axles to 100mm x 4..
