I'd like to know how y'all dealt with the shifter location, etc.
Did you find an Abarth remote shifter? or did you keep the 131 shifter and modify another way?
And I assume you had a custom prop-shaft built. Did you eliminate the Guibo at that point? OR keep it? and WHY?
Anyone? Buehler?

I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!

on the cars I've seen, the floor/console was modded as was the crossmember mount. The front section from an auto driveshaft was used also

Re: who has installed a 131 trans in their Spider?
I installed a late model 131 Superbrava box in SPYDUH when she was restored and converted to right-hand-drive, back in about 2002/03 . I wrote up a comprehensive 'How to...' and posted it on http://www.fiatcenter.com a Fiat Forum site which now seems to have ceased to exhist
Does anybody know if the very useful data from this website is available on line anywhere at present

However, not all is lost ....... I found that most of my pics and description has been used by Matt Web in his comprehensive article on mirafiori.com called '124/131 Transmission Swap' at this link: http://www.mirafiori.com/faq/content/13 ... nsswap.htm
.... at least he acknowledges where the pics came from![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Re: who has installed a 131 trans in their Spider?
So, I've reviewed the link you posted Curly,(thanks for that). IF I can't source a remote shifter assembly inexpensively it doesn't seem likely I will) then will be faced with some "creativity" in installing this gearbox. Are any of y'all familiar with an installation where they've not used the remote shifter?
And if I open this box up and clean it really good, will I be able to assess its conditon? Or can I measure parts that typically wear or bend? I'd sure like to know it's good before I install it. (BEcause I could always go back to rebuilding a 124 box)
