Blue shies and it reached 80 degrees at mid day. the perfect day for a fall top down drive !
I went on the drive a couple years back. I took my 66 ford F100, was very hard to keep up , the big truck with manual bracks and steering, trying to keep up the sports cars, threw the curvey color filled roads around Novi and Northville Michigan. I arrived at the meeting spot almost at 10 a.m.. I had a couple of min. to snap these few picturs, Than it was time to sadle up to leave for the next stop. The 1st cider mill. was only about 2 or 3 mills down the road. about a half mile before we arrived my car started stauling'Pulled into the parkin Lot and open the hood and began trying to figure out the issue. Started by replacing the plugs. They where prttey bad, for having less than 4000 mile on them. had a new set I bought the day before. I was going to change them before winter storage any way. Than I pulled the dissy cap, for inspection. to find a very sizable cut / burn on each of the metal firing points on the inside of the cap. A on looker / helper had notice the Dissy rotor had a split from the outside edge all the was to the center. on the metal conductor part. There was a lot of very helpfull Triumph and MG owners offering Tools ect. John Tucker (sat at the big table at FFO this year. was kind enough to offer his garage and spare parts, just up from our next stop.art and his wife Ann offerd me some of the cider. it was great even if it wasnt spirited just yet. lol. Everyone was so helpfull. Thank you everyone.
Everone started pulling out for the next destination. it was to decide, either limp the car the rest of the day about 90 miles than the trip hone from where ever we stop at . Or limp the car to about 40 miles. Home wasnt the funnest but the safest. so I said my thank yous and good bys and started heading for the expressway. I stopped at a filling station before getting on the expressway and bought some Injector cleaner. Thinking if the plugs where bad than the injectors can't be any better. I seemed to clean out some on the way home.
After getting home I began digging threw my spare parts. Found a good used dissy cap but no rotor. a friend ask me to stop by later at night. so I took the spider for a little test drive.the problem seems to be still there. when cold it seems to be loading up. like when i step on the gas when cold it just boggs out. once warm seems to run fine. Now I seem to have this problem in the last few weeks. but was guessing it was the car reacting to the colder weather and not wanting to be put away for a long winters nap. but it never just wouldn't run like it di this day .
going in a few Min to the local foreign car parts place hoping the have a new cap and rotor in stock. Usually they dont have anything for the Fiats
