wing window hinge

Post by rlux4 »

I know this is going to be hard for you guys to believe, but I'm still working on things that aren't up to snuff on my car. I don't mean that I'm working, I mean that a Spider may have any work it may need done. Latest issue; the top hinge on the driver's side wing window has a broken hinge pin. It stays in place OK but I'd like to fix/replace it if it's possible. Anyone had experience with this issue? Looks like the whole frame would have to come out by getting inside the door panel. But is it possible to put a new hinge pin in, or will I have to try to find a new wing window assy.?
Thanks, Ron

Sorry, Ron, I don't know the answer to your question about the hinge pin. I do have a few complete assemblies ($35) if you decide to go that route. I work in Valencia, which is not too far from you, so you could avoid shipping cost.

You can contact me at ventura_ace@juno.com.

The wing window assemblies aren't that difficult to take out and replace. I would go with Alvon's suggestion....save yourself a whole bunch of hassle.

As memory serves, only two bolts and one other nut hold that assembly in place.

Takes longer to pull the door panel and replace than it does to do the wing window.

Thanks Mike, I got ahold of Alvon, he's got a good one for me. He's pretty close, so I'll run over there soon to pick it up.I've already had the door panel apart for another issue, and that's something I have experience with so it wasn't a problem. Thanks for the input, I can go forward with less trepidation now. Oooo, trepidation, not bad huh? Ron

Let us know how it works out. The vent glass frame is simple to remove but reinstalling and aligning it properly can be a pain!
