I've found the ones that have been sitting usually need the engine out service, and the owner just couldn't afford it so put the car away. Don't let the cost of the service get to you, you can do it yourself and save almost the whole cost. Just drop the engine and trans out the bottom, and then it's easy to do the belts. In the shop, we charge around 7200 for the service, and I'll tell you it's all labor, and not much in parts.

This is precisely what I've been planning-on. I've made sure I planned for the eventuality that I take it to a Ferrari dealer for the work, but I'd rather not. Partly because of my history with the same dealer when I've dealt with them on Maserati & Lotis that I've owned... but mainly because I still prefer to do my own maintenance. I still maintain my own Benz & Jaguar as well, and they are certainly more advance than a 27 yr old Ferrari.
I'm so excited, I can;t sleep. I've always loved the marque, and knew I was closing-in on ownership. It wasn't until the last 6 months or so that I started thinking Testarossa, as opposed to a 3*8 series car. I think the V12 is a safe purchase right now. I think nearly ALL Ferraris are at the bottom of their value right now. the market for these cars is quite depressed, due to economic conditions. But I think the V12's will return in value. I think they will appreciate over time, where I'm not sure I'd say the same about the V8 cars.
Sorry... I'm babbling. So damn STOKED!

I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!
