new cams

Post by narfire »

Installed a set of FI "274" cams from Mark a while ago but could not get them degree'd in as the fellow that was going to do it picked up a long haul job. He quit and now had some time to allow me to help him get the fiat dialed in. The car I thought went well and the performance improvement was noticable. Yesterday we pulled the hood and rad and got the wheel on the crank and after a couple of hours the cams were dialed in with a 109 deg centerline. Took it out around the block a bit and what an improvement :D The car pulls like nobodys buisness and with the new koni's and 1" front sway bar the car is a gas to drive. Woke up this am to a skiff of snow :( hopefully this week sometime the roads are clear to play a bit more before the plates expire. Just a recomendation if anyone gets an upgraded set of cams, get them degree'd in properly.... I believe you will notice the difference. (need the adjustable cam wheels as well)
Now off to go x-country skiing :D

Chris,I just put some Hakkapeliitta's on the spider, the thing is now a beast in the snow! We are having the CPU in the Rover overhauled and some custom programming done in Scotland, so the Hakkas are some great insurance that you can go almost anywhere! Just a blast to drive up to the ski hill (I have a rack on the trunk for skis and snowboards).

Be careful with Hakka, they are not that great on ice unles you put the studded one. i used the 1,Q,RSI,5 and now the 7 studded. On icy corner, they brake without ABS engaging.

Thanks for the point,! they are not studded. I put some studded tires on the rover and they really are worth it in places like ours that see a fair bit of ice...It would be better if they didnt salt our roads, it seems to create more sheen-type ice when the temperatures go below the saltwaters frezzing point and of course the damage to our cars...

On the note of the Hakkas, I was chatting with a bc hydro meter reader and it turns out that they run hakka's year-round (unstudded, of course).
