New Springs

Post by davery »

I am having a set of performance springs put on my car. I would do it myself, but it would probably take me a couple of weeks. Anyway, the place I am having it done wants to replace the upper cups or seats on the front. Not an issue, but I can not seem to find them anywhere. I think they just want to make sure when they tear the car apart, it is not going to be sitting in their garage until we find these, assuming they need to be replaced. I have talked to a couple of parts places and they say these are very rarely replaced. Any opinions?

Yes, I would replace too. I did it on my 1977 and it feels a lot smoother. Here is a link where you by it, it´s in Germany but the price is right.

hope that helps.

Do you mind translating?

Did you replace just the front uppers?

No, I replace the back ones and the upper lower ones in the front. Basically all of them.

So are there uppers and lowers for each spring? It looks like (and I do not understand German) the ebay listing has 6 pieces. An upper and lower for each would be 8 pieces.

Should you not have a wheel realignment done as well? Jim

So then the set on the ebay link is for a full set. Upper and lower for the rear, plus upper for the front. Why no lowers in the front, does the spring rest on metal?

How common is to have to replace these?

So guess I am going to have to learn German. Has anyone dealt with this company before? I'm just wondering how long it would take to get to the US.

Hey, I can't say much on the product or parts but get Google Chrome web browser and when you go to the page, at the top of the browser just under the address bar, it will ask if you want it to translate. It's not 100%, but you can make sense of it(typically).

btw, just to save you time, the shipping to the US is 25euro + 2.50euro per kg.

Thanks for the tip. I sent an email and hopefully I will hear back tomorrow. I can't beleive no one in the US has a complete set of these for the rear and front.
