Broke my brakes

Post by stupidsongs2 »

I just bought my 77 124 sport and i love it! However, I was replacing the front rubber hoses yesterday, and I must not of been paying attention because i twisted the metal line on the driver's side, and now it leaks.

So I'm wondering a few things:

What flare do these cars use?
What size is the fitting into the flexible hose (the side without the banjo bolt)?
Is there a place that'll sell me just the tube nut, or do i need to buy a whole new line?
Where would I get the line?!?

Sorry for all the questions, my other projects have all been VWs so I'm kinda used to parts basically falling out of the sky...

is the past tense of brake - broke? or, is it braked? wasn't english class loads of fun?

Mark Allison sells some high end brake hose for the Spider. I am very sure he knows off the top of his head what size those threads are...he's the moderator on this forum, so he shouldn't be too hard to find.

also, once you know that thread size, you can get regular tubing from your over-the-counter parts supplier and should be able to specify that thread size for the ends. or, you may have to ask for the adapter fittings.

Awesome!

I figured out the thread size last night at the hardware store with their little screw on tester thing. It's 10mmx1.25.

There was a SAE one that fit pretty well too if I really wanted to save the $.70 and die an early death ;)

good luck keeping the system bled with the SAE threads, you may never reach the highway of death to test that theory.

10x1.25 was what i was gonna guess. same size as the threads on the shifter knob BTW....

Wonder why i know that?
