4 years ago, I was having one of those "crises", where I really needed a Ferrari. I mean,
really needed a Ferrari. So my wife and I were out looking at several cars within a 6 hour radius of me, that were within the cash-budget at the time.
(First, let me say that the $30k Ferrari is a myth. it doesn't exist. Every Ferrari int he price range is JUNK, and needs at least $20k poured back into it)
So the last one we looked at was a '78 308 GTB. Like the others; it was junk. But as I sat in it, reviewing everything it was going to need, I commented to my wife that it was like sitting in one of my old Fiats. All the switchgear, gauges, bezels, air vents, etc etc etc... it all
felt like a Fiat.
So she of course said "then why don't we go get you another Fiat?"
And that's how I came to own the current car.

I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!
