Assuming the "vents" you've created are open, this could provide a solution for the folks who were concerned about getting heat out of the engine bay.

Yes they are open also let cool air into the engine bay at the same time

Has anyone modified the hood bumps to become functional vents? These would let hot air out as well as be a source of cool air when running. Seems like it would be a good mod, but I haven't heard or seen a picture of anyone doing it.

i dont know who owns the car, but i have seen a yellow one with the hood vents opened. i think i have seen another too. great idea

No need for them to be functional vents, they way there are open will do just fine. This is going to ( in my case ) allow the engine heat to escape along with allowing air inside the engine bay. I am going to be running a set of headers so I wanted the engine bay to be able to cool down with out it getting too hot and messing up my new paint job.

@beek. If I had any bodywork talent at all I would try it, but I would just make a mess of the car.

Your not shy about cutting. Put some grilles on them so your not sucking in small birds and cats

I have decided that the front grill will need a face lift as well. I think I will make a Spider Web grill sense these cars are called spider

Thermotec header wrap works really well at lowering under the hood temperatures. Thats what I use. Also, blocking the water bypass on the water pump on your 4.3 will make your cooling system more efficient..

Rob I am staying with the 2L for a little while, I have chrome headers so kinda defeats the propose of having chrome headers if I wrap them...

Ahh Makes sense about the header for sure.. You'll certainly get on the road quicker and cheaper by staying with the 2L for a while. good luck with the project!

I'd be leery about cutting open the front of the Spider hood bumps if I lived anywhere it rains. If you've ever washed your engine, you know that water likes to pool in the spark plug wells. The engine will miss badly until you suck or blow the wells free of standing water. My Fiat 131 would experience this condition every time I went thru an automatic car wash. I carried a turkey baster in the trunk for such occasions!

You just need to drive it more Bernie, it will burn off as steam
