The reason my Spider was missing one rear wheel mount bolt is obvious now. Looks like someone got crazy with impact wrench and stripped the threads. The PO left the bolt out long enough to corrode the crapola out of the hole.
A chaser tap was no use.. tried that first..
Now the $64K question, How to repair?
I do not want to use Helicoils, they have not worked right for me so far.
I do not really want to replace the whole axle for one stripped set of threads.
The other 3 holes appear sound as do the locating pins..
Anyone have words of wisdom on this?
Time-Serts ?
Keyserts ?

I had a similar issue with a stripped bolt which would just spin in the hole... I ended up replacing my bolts with studs screwed and loc-tited into the hubs, then used conventional wheel nuts to secure the wheels. This is a good option if you are running aftermarket wheels and have removed the little locating lugs which otherwise help you re-fit a wheel.

KRegester
I have the standard Fiat Turbo wheels, ( similar to the red car in the logo - top right of screen ), the PO had replace one of the bolts with a screw stud ( as per Perthling suggestion ) in each wheel and then install standard lock nuts on the 4 wheels - you can easily do the same and add security to your list on add ons/enhancements ! ! !
A cheaper option with benefits !

It's only a 10 minute job to replace an axle. If you've got a spare lying around, that would be the simplest solution. Helicoils would be my next prefered option.

Excellent! Thanks!
I have the Factory Turbo wheels also.
The studs and wheel lock on each wheel looks like a good option.
I looked right at a set of tuner locks yesterday @ AutoZone while looking for a new M12 1.25 tap.
Evidently that is an unusal size, I found other pitch M12 taps..
Thanks
This board is a real blessing!
