I just bought my first 124-based Fiat (I had an 850 many years ago) and am really excited as my wife and I have wanted one for years. I paid $700 for the car, it is beige(?) on tan with a tan top and it has been garaged kept for the past 11 years by the PO. The body is fairly straight with a few dents and dings and minor (for a Fiat) rust along the rocker panels, appears mainly to be surface, though i know how that goes. The top is in need of replacement, but in the past year the PO has rebuilt/replaced the front suspension including the subframe. Tires and brakes are good and in good working order (at least from rolling it off of the trailer). The car is missing the passenger seat as the PO threw it away because he states the frame was bent and he was going to put aftermarket seats in it anyway

The PO stated that the car ran last summer, though nothing happens when the key is turned on. I figured I'd take a chance on the car as I am a BMW mechanic by trade, so anything on this car I should be able to fix.
The current plan at the moment is to change the fluids, timing belt, and water pump/thermostat as the T-belt has never been changed by the PO. I am just trying to get the car running and on the road and then start a rolling restoration on the car. I will post pics of the car once I take them. The car is currently 1-1/2 hours from where I am living at the moment as we are having major work done to our house and are currently living with the inlaws until work is complete.
I look forward to the forum and will try to stay active.
Quick question: Anyone know of a Fiat owner's club in/around the Blue Ridge/Charlottesville area?
