fueled my 73 Spider in preparation for first start following restoration. 1800 carb engine. Took plenty of notes and labeled hoses prior to removal, but now have fuel flowing out of engine evap canister. Looks like 1# coffee can, near horn.
Hoses as follows: 5/16" top of canister to carb
5/16 out the side of canister to intake manifold
5/16 out the bottom of canister to vehicle fuel line (return?)
5/8" hole on bottom of canister n/c, and this is where the fuel is coming out. This nipple is quite short and has no flare. I'm pretty sure there was no hose attached to this opening.
HELP! Garage full of gasoline

the cannister should only be hooked to vent lines, not a fuel return line. The steel line from the tank vent is just above the frame rail on the left side and ends approx even with the front of the motor. The return line from the carb to the tank is up near the brake fluid reservoir

Bottom of canister to tank vent line, got it. Others OK as described. Thanks.
BTW, what is the purpose of the open 5/8" vent on the bottom of the canister? Just curious.

Re: HELP! Garage full of gasoline
fresh air intake. There should be a filter in the bottom of the cannister. You should take that cannister out and either replace it or figure out how to get all of the fuel out of it. The charcoal in it wasn't meant to be used as a sponge. Once you get the car running you'll experience a rich condition as the vacuum hose will pull that raw fuel into the manifold
