still no key

Post by dodge_god »

OK, a local shop informed me that I can contact a Fiat dealer with the VIN and they should be able to get the key codes from this. Any body ever hear about this?? Now the big question.......where can I find Fiat dealer here in Canada??? or the U.S. for that matter.

I don't mean to demean your locksmith, but I once watched a real pro take a key blank for a Ford (teeth on both sides), stick the blank in the ignition - wiggle it about - take it out and file - repeat....until he MADE a key that you could not tell from the original.

Now, it took him nearly a half hour to do so, but that certainly was better than tearing the steering column apart to get a new tumbler-switch installed w/out the key...

I've also had locksmiths make keys for igns and each time it took them about 1/2 hr. Removing the switch without a key isn't an option; you either ruin the switch or the column and that'll cost more than the locksmith charges
