I'm not sure what randy thoughts are on the exhaust for my 69 but I should start thinking about it, I like the sound of the ansa system,I had it on the 72 I owned, sounded great to me.
What is any one else using after there mods to there engine ,or changing the whole set up
What would be the best sound

Jim, I'm very happy with the performance system sold by A/R. Nice burble at idle, pleasant sound when on the gas, and it seems to help the engine breathe a bit easier. Got better when I tossed one of the performance air cleaners on the other end.
I had an ANSA on my long departed 71 coupe, and liked it as well. I was going for "stock" look this time, so I used A/R's. I will also note that installing that A/R system and the new down pipe took about an hour...including hunting down all the tools I needed (this was pre-Big Red Craftsman Tool Box). The system fits like a glove.

I have had an ANSA rear muffler on my car for many years. Like the sound, but more importantly-I feel,it is a correct period "look" for my car.
However, from a performance point of view, I have upgraded the rest of my exhaust to a 2.5" diameter, and as far as I have been told, the inlet to the ANSA is still an anemic original spec. If true, this could negate some of the performance potential you'll have from your recent rebuild.
I had installed a performance header and the recommended muffler... Got about 50' from my mechanic after install, discovered that I HATED the sound coming from the tailpipe, and the ugly noise it made at certain RPM.
Bought a replacement ANSA muffler, and drove away with a smile (and a much lighter wallet )
Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, we have decided to turn off the light at the end of the tunnel. We apologize for any inconvenience.
