1975 124 Weld Done While Battery Connected Car Won't Start

Here is a set of brushes which are a little bigger than a tooth brush and are similar to the set I use to clean electrical connections:

I don't use the brass on aluminum and try to start with the least aggressive that will still potentially get the job done. And yes this are miniature welding cleanup brushes (not much of a joke however playing on cleaning up damage coincidental to welding...)

Thanks again, this is the type of help I'm looking for, even if the weld didn't cause this issue i would like to simply get my ride back on the road safely, and by finding the one brunt wire it's obvious I have some homework to do. And any info pertaining to the electrical I should be looking for and checking for.

Can anyone tell me what this copper inline fuse is used for i found it while checking all the inline fuse under the dash it's pretty bigger than the normal fuses I've run into while checking the wiring. Please see photo below.

For me the best way to tell what the fuse is for is to identify the wire colors going to the fuse holder and then find the fuse holder in the wire diagrams. I think your car has 3 original in line fuse holders.

I believe Deoxit is a little pricey but one of the best contact cleaners on the market.

The regular DeoxIt is now showing low or out of stock on-line with only the more expensive DeoxIt Gold available. Possibly due to the sale with it marked down to $14.96 at this time.

I have a question should I have power to the red wire coming from the ignition when the key is in the start position like to run the radio, but not turning the key completely to the crank and start position. When I did a test today from the ignition switch in the on position I had power from every wire but the red wire not sure if tho is correct.

I don't have a print for a 75 Spider. However in most of the Spiders battery power is fed to the ignition switch on 2 wires. One is black and one is brown. The brown wire feeds the portion of the ignition switch that engages the starter solenoid. Often it is the largest wire on the on the ignition switch. This wire physically originates at the alternators output post.
So as stated there should be power at the starter solenoid post that has the battery cable on it.
There should be power on the alternators output post with the ignition switch off.
There should be power on the big brown wire and the black wire on the ignition switch with the switch off.
There should be power on the red wire on the ignition switch with the switch in the start position.

I agree with previous post, I don't think welding with battery connected caused this problem.

the copper "fuse" is a resistor, not a fuse.it is for the temperature gauge.

Is that resistor on all the Spiders or just certain ones? I know the wire diagram for my 81 shows a resistor in the over temperature switch circuit I wondered where it was located.

all, it is under the dash beside the steering column inline and most likely in a blue holder

Thanks for everyone's help and reply's drove my ride today everything seems to be fine again, but will still keep replacing connector spades as i go.
