Wiper Motor wiring

Post by baltobernie »

Hey, anybody still home?

What is the wiring function of the six wiper motor wires on a '73 Spider? The colors are:

black - ground
blue
blue/white
blue/black
gray
gray/black

I'm looking for power, park, lo and hi. Can't seem to find the correct combination for these functions. (I'm bypassing the delay switch module)

black - ground
blue - goes to hi/low rheostat. On the motor it connects to INT terminal
blue/white - goes to intermittent cycling switch and it connects to terminal "F" on motor
blue/black - goes to 3 way wiper lever switch on steering column and connects to terminal "C"
gray - goes to rheostat and connects to terminal "D"
gray/black - goes to 3 way wiper lever switch.

It looks like it gets it's power from the blue/black wire
I had a problem with the wipers on my 71 and found they did not work when the rheostat was not in the little plastic chromed bezel. I don't know if it actually grounds in some way or I was just unlucky.

(in his best AM radio DJ voice) And the hits just keep on comin'!

Got the wiring figured out, but even the best won't cure this:

This is the commutator on the wiper motor shaft.

But all the lights work!

All the lights work. That's a good one Bernie. You weren't going to take that new paint job out in the rain very soon anyway were you?
