I upgraded.

I sold my tired 1980 fixer and picked up a 1971 that is close to done. I love this car. It looks like it was restored recently, maybe by someone here? If anyone knows any history about what is in the car, I'd like to know more. It has an upgraded ANSA exhaust, 4-2-1 manifold and a 32/36 Dfev carb. It looks like it was re sprayed the same color. The dash and center consol look new. It runs great.

I'm wondering if it was lowered. I like the campagnola wheels. But I'm wondering if stock taller tires would fit.

Great looking car. Those tires appear to be Yokohama AVS Intermediate tires, which are fantastic but were discontinued about a decade ago, meaning they're at least that old. Might be worth investigating replacement, for safety's sake.

Wish Yoko would reissue the AVSi in some 13" sizes.

1974 appears to be the model year - but like most things Spider related it likely happened sometime mid-production between 1973 (the "CS") and 1974 (the "CS1"). The 1973 parts manual page F3.01 has it in the hood; 1974 same page has it in the trunk.

That trunk mounted battery looks PO installed. It's not stock and the trunk floor is not stock.

Good idea to put the battery over the rear axle.

I'm not statistically sure, but I think it was when they switched to fuel injection. Late 1979.

Got the rear mounted battery in my 78 but its history is not 100% clear however it does not look like it was added on afterwards.

Thanks for the heads up regarding the battery. I didn't realize it wasn't originally in the trunk.

I've been trying to figure out what kind of wheels these are and whether or not they are magnesium Campagnolo 'Elektron" wheels.

I think these are the wheels. I don't see many of these around.
