Dallas is almost too hot for a Fiat

HI,

after an eighteen year break without a Fiat, I finally got another one

It's been so long since I even worked on a car, i'm sure I'll be bugging you good folks for some tips and advise.

The new car is a 1981 Fiat Spider, red with tan leather interior. I'd post a pic if I could figure out how to upload one.

Hello and welcome to a great forum. I also live in a hot area, the southern edge of the Mojave desert. But, like you, I figure it is almost too hot. I keep a spray bottle of water in the car and go anyway, no matter the heat. I do get nagged regularly to wear a hat and sunscreen though. I shouldn't say nagged, I mean lovingly reminded.
To post pictures, first upload them to a photo sharing site. From there you copy the code and when you compose a message for the forum, insert it with a command from one of the grey buttons just above the message composition box. I use Photobucket and it has an option to copy clickable thumbnails that you can just paste in without a insert command button.

engine is stock, nothing fancy, but it runs. My first trip after buying it last Saturday was the 250 miles from Houston to Dallas in 105+ heat.

Its never TOO hot for a fiat! It does get hot as hell in TX, but never too hot. I actually used to live in Dallas when I got out of th eArmy (Ft.Hood). I lived at northwest highway, and Skillman. I worked construction, and drove an 80 Honda Civic w/o air cond.

nice looking car. is that a little known factory option where the brake pedal is so close to the edge of the seat on the floor? looks like it is directly under the driver's thigh.

Well, since I have to put my Fiat in storage for 5 months out the the year because of the snow, sleet and freezing temperatures, I have little, if any, empathy for those who think it is too hot

Seriously, that looks like one fine Spider. Welcome to the forum. We like to extend an especially warm welcome to the far superior fuel injected Spiders (or the inferior Spiders with funky electronics and ugly bumpers for those with a twisted point of view). We like to tease each other about the best Spider, but they are all wonderful cars and you'll find this is a great group of friendly folks ready to help whenever you need it.

actually, that's the rubber cover for my accelerator pedal. It wasn't glued on real well. Actually, I keep it like that as one more "excuse" I give my wife why it's just not quite yet ready for her to drive. Soon, though, I promise
