Door Locks
Ok, I've tried several combinations and I give. Can anyone explain how to lock the doors with a key? I've had our new beauty for several months and cannot figure out the door key process. I found you can raise the door lever from the inside to lock it, but my key will not unlock. Thanks for any guidance.

Re: Door Locks
if the lock turns with the key in it, the link that connects to latch is probably broken
Re: Door Locks
locks keep out honest people.
locking a convertible invites thieves to ruin your top in their attempts to get at your valuables. put your valuables in the trunk, and not need to lock the door.

Re: Door Locks
I think you ment that if you push down on the lever it locks the door, you should hear an audible click. With the key in the lock turn clockwise about 1/4 turn to lock, also you should hear a click, 1/4 turn counter clockwise to unlock, also a click.
I usually lock the passenger side door from the inside using the lever, you don't have to walk around the car to lock it with the key, plus if your drivers side lock ever wears out from use, just switch them.
I'm not worried about someone slashing the top because the doors are locked, thats why I have insurance. If it gets slashed I get a brand new top.
Its possible the plastic retainer clip that secures the release rod to the lock is broken or the rod fell out of the clip.

Re: Door Locks
I'm with Mike on this one. Locking a convertible is kind of like leaving the house and locking the screen door. What is the point?

Re: Door Locks
Car is sitting outside with my MP3 player and golf clubs in it with the top down and the keys in the ignition. I don't expect rain tonight so it'll be like that until tomorrow. I'm glad that I live where I live.

what door locks?
I've never tried locking either Spider, I don't know if they work or not. I try not to leave valuables inside and figure even if something is stolen it will be cheaper than a new canvas top.
