I was going to put the switch in today ,,,BUT

Post by GOPAPA »

my wife says to me " Happy Birthday" to me ,,so I am going to take my other pride and joy out with a friend Skip and celebrate ..

I and my son took my 1971 Chevy Truck to buy his 1980 Fiat a month ago and I took a picture of my truck on the steet .

It's going to be over a 100 degrees today so forgive me for not taking the Fiat out as the truck has air condition in it .LOL

papa have a nice day every one ,,I plan on it ...

Happy B-day! Despite the ac, I'm sure the truck isn't as much fun as the Spider.

thx ,,I like them both but I want to put the switch in first before I go any long distance .. Sure would be better on gas tho.

Also the Fiat kicks out heat under the dash even with the heat off so I need for you to tell me what to do to stop this as the wife says it's Just a bit Hot.. I still havent found a out side air vent under there to cool some but just been so busy I admit I only read the manual and didnt find anything ,, got any thoughts on this Mark? will be back later in the day and check in .. papa

Yeah, Ford has a better idea. And, I nearly forgot..Happy Birthday.

your extra heat is most likely attributed to a faulty heater control valve; something we all must address at least once in our Spider ownership. Replace the valve, and the new one will close. Or, maybe, the cable has come off your valve? Naw-that would be too easy.

and, you may need a rubber inner shifter boot.

what year is your car? 1976 and earlier had a round vent that went from the cowl to the underside of the dash, on both sides. later cars ommitted this handy little vent.

my bet is the cable to the heater control valve is bound up or misadjusted. That cable is barely long enough, and if the newer heater valve has been put in it may not allow the valve to close completely. It's great in the winter though

You know what Mark ? Today my friend wanted to go garage selling and so I did ,,but the quadrajet in my Chevy Truck started acting up with the high heat we had and I did wish I had the spider instead.. I only bought a New Hampshire License plate to add to my collection of the 50 states ,,and I could of hauled that in the Spider for sure,, papa

Papa, one of the things our newer cars don't have is the tube vents that bring fresh air into the footwell area in from the cowel. If you don't have the owners manual, the best you can do is to push the heater/air control lever that's on the right side all the way forward, this directs fresh air to the floor by way of the little vents in the front of the lower console. Then pull the heat control lever all the way back, this shuts off the heater valve. There is an owners manual here for 1981) if it helps: http://www.my-spider.de/Owner_s_Manual.pdf
