Cup holder ....
Cup holder ....
I don't want to reinvent the wheel, so I thought I would see if anyone has made any type of cup holder that attaches, preferably temporarily, to the center console. I typically just wedge my beverage of choice in an insulated holder between the parking brake handle and the passenger seat, but figured there has to be a better way. I do not want to cut or damage the center console in any way. Any ideas ??
Re: Cup holder ....
I completely agree, but was looking for that extra hand so I can drink, talk on the cell phone, adjust the stereo, and downshift all at the same time.

I always got a beautiful blonde to hold my drink for me
Be careful though, That blonde and I are just about to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary

You remember those wood console covers on the vans and class C motor homes? Being a carpenter, I've made them to my own design for different vehicles. I'm trying now to come up with one that will fit over the section of console that is between the seats. I'd also like to incorporate a padded top so it would act as an armrest.

That is EXACTLY what I was going to say! We celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary this year. But we dated for 10 years before we got married, so we aren't as far behind you as it might seem.

That picture looks good enough to be a Fiat ad John!
I like the lights in the grill, they're a better size than the large ones I see so often.

Re: Cup holder ....
Thanks Ron. That photo literally came in the mail this week. There was a photographer at FFO taking individual pictures as each car drove onto the golf course for the Saturday concours. The lights were installed by the previous owner in the mid '80s. I have no idea what type of lights they are, but they fit perfectly inside the stainless surround around the grille. With the black trim around each light, they look as if they are part of the grille from ten feet away. I am usually a die hard in keeping a car 100 percent stock and correct. However, these lights look pretty good and they are at least a period accessory as they have been on the car for over 20 years. There's a close up of one of the lights pictured here: http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk22 ... G_0887.jpg

Re: Cup holder ....
John,
Do you have the contact info of the person that took the individual pics at FFO. I haven't heard from them, and I'd like to see if I can get the picture. Yours looks great! You can reach me at ventura_ace@juno.com or 805-338-1767.
Regarding cup holders, I've not seen it, but I've talked to many folks about converting an ash tray receptacle to a cup holder of sorts. Sounds like a good after-market offering for someone clever enough to put something together.

Re: Cup holder ....
I like this idea as long as it is not too bulky. Some combination of a padded armrest between the seats with a cup holder insert like a poker table rail would be ideal.rlux4 wrote:You remember those wood console covers on the vans and class C motor homes? Alvon,
Here is the link to the FLU website with instructions on how to order photos: http://fluforum.italiancarclub.com/viewtopic.php?t=2858. the photographer's web site says the photos are available only until August 10, but they all still show up on his web site. You can also e-mail him at kensvip@ptd.net.

Re: Cup holder ....
I think converting the ash tray to a cup holder might get in the way of the gear shift knob if your beverage of choice is too tall. Might have to drink 12 oz. cans instead of 16 oz. cans or bottles.ventura ace wrote:

why not get one of those hard hats with the twin cupholders and flexible tube and keep the car original?
