Got my floor LED Floor lighting in finally. It's mounted to the support brace underneath the full length.

I like that! Much better than the door switch operating the dash courtesy light, which doesn't supply even remotely enough light. Plus there is nothing visible, so it maintains the look of stock (Until they peek under the hood of course..... )

Jagonza: I have it wired to the door switches and I also have a switch on the dash to operate it as well.

Are those the multi-color leds that come on a reel? I've used that for lighting on some of the machines I've built. Great idea, just make sure you don't let the passenger set it to the fast-random setting while you're driving

Nope, just green led strips but yeah that would get confusing for sure.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. I always have problems finding ignition key place when dark outside.
Where did you get strip? How long was it? Voltage?
One suggestion that might make it work well for that function is to add a circuit relay delays. eBay has tons of them. Wiring is easy. This way, when door opened, light goes on; you can close door ; but light stays on for a user defined period (for instance 10 sec). Still, in parallel , keep the on-demand light switch

Actually, I just thought of two other uses: get two more. One for the door switch; but have it time out after 5 minutes , so you don't drain battery if working on car or accidentally left door open; and for trunk light

I've used these weatherproof 12V kits off ebay on various machinery.

You just cut the strips to length. You don't need the power supply when wiring up in your car and if you only want a single color, you can buy even cheaper kits.

They don't draw much power, there's no need for fancy switches or relays, just a 2-5A fuse. Run battery power to the + side and run the ground to your door switches & a manual switch to ground if you want them to work whenever you open a door or turn them on.

I used 24" sections and they covered the full length perfectly. You'd have to build up a pcb circuit for a delayed turn off but it can be done.. otherwise everything sparky mentioned applies.

Do you purchase them in 24" sections? Or do they come in long roll and you cut to size? Brand?
Reading some reviews on Amazon, some brands seem to have some issues (not bright, not all leds working).

As for the delay circuit, the eBay link has installation video. Don't need PCB, just connecting loose wires to the unit. Looks crazy easy.......of course I have regretted say that for many of my projects !(installing ceiling fans.......)

Nope, bought them precut with wires attached. Waterproof sections.
