Sad news indeed. Wish I could have met him.

Re: Thanks & RIP Tom Tjaarda
Mr. Tjaarda came to The Italian Carfest many years ago. And we can say Tom was above and beyond a wonderful man. He spent time with everyone that wanted to meet him and ask questions. He was joyful to discuss everything to each person about every little bolt on their car from an expensive Ferrari to the roughest 124. Tom even expressed interest and enthusiasm to modified cars. Many will say his designs stand alone (and they do) but he was always interested in an individual making their car their very own.
Tom we at Vick Autosports will miss you and cherish the memories we had with you.

Bummer. What a cool, professional guy. I met him at last year's Concorso http://www.fiatspider.com/f15/viewtopic ... 16&t=32215, where he gave an insightful, extemporaneous summary of his career. The audience chuckled when he confessed to making holes in many places of his design drawings, from frequent erasures.
Sadly, the days of a sole designer developing a single vision into a classic automobile are far behind us.
