Brakes good -- squeaky wheels around turns

Post by Fiatcatapult »

Brakes good, new calipers, and new pads -- what causes squeaky wheels around turns and when slowing down.

Not sure if it's coming from the front or the rear.

like something is out of round squeak.

Some things to consider...
Front Bearing freeplay excessive?
Are your sliders lubricated or installed dry?
Are the leading edges of the pads beveled? if not, do so with a file.
Anti-squeal pad on the backing plate?
If not, there are some permatex products to spray on the backing plate, let dry to tacky, then install.

Steel rotor squeaking or tire squeal? Could be alignment issues or worn front suspension if its tire noise. If its brakes look at loose/worn front wheel bearings. It would be rare for rear wheel bearings to have that much effect but it would not hurt to check.

Here is a great video on how to properly pack a front wheel bearing. Many times front wheel bearings fail because they were not packed correctly as show here by Dan Anderson of the American Farm Journal:
