Then the conversation turned to something the guys had given him as a gift. A sketch of some sort of factory as he remembered. He even thought he might have it stored up in his attic somewhere and wanted to know if I had any interest in it. Well duh
So the following week I dug around in his attic and found it. Wow, it is a hand sketched drawing of the original Fiat Corso Dante factory (via 1899). From the information on the sketch it looks like they commissioned an Italian artist C. Molinari in 2000 to produce 30 sketches. I have #14 of the set.
With a little google magic, is how I figured out the information about which building it is, then took a little virtual google maps drive around the area and found the portion of the building he sketched. I also found an original picture of the building tying it all together. Here are pictures of the sketch and the other things I came across that I thought might be interesting to some....
