Hello from Los Angeles

Post by 69fiat124 »

Hello everyone,
I am a 16 year old high school student who recently purchased a 1969 Fiat 124 Spider to work on in my limited free time. I plan on fixing the interior and the electrics. I will eventually repaint it because the current paint job is not very good. I am very open to help and advice because I definitely need it especially with my very limited technical knowledge. Thanks for your time.

Welcome! It's great to see someone young succumbing to insanity ... I mean joining the hobby!

You've got a great car and you will learn a lot of fun things working on it.

I was 16 when I bought my first car, 70 Fiat. learned a lot about cars back then.

Once you get into it, you'll find the car easy to work on with a few metric tools. There are several vendors out there that provide quality parts.
Enjoy...

Welcome - I'm just outside of LA (Simi Valley). Does your car run and is it drive-able?

You will learn a lot - I got my spider when I was around 20. I hope you can post some pictures when you get a chance.

Peace.
Out.

DJ, awesome, I inherited my '69 spider from my dad when I moved off to college, about 40 years ago. I still have it, and it's still chugging along. Upgraded to a 2 liter engine and several paint jobs over the decades, but otherwise original.

Great way to learn about cars and engines.

Yes I am afraid it is. It was originally a baby blue but one of the previous owners decided to paint it like this. Soon I will repaint it to the original color.

@ nelsonj

I thought I had the only Fiat in Simi Valley. I haven't seen one (the last local was an X1/9) for about ten years.
