Hi All, I’m delighted to finally meet you. I bought my 1979 Fiat 2000 in 1996 in DC. Shipped it back to the UK with me and still love it! Sadly I’ve been on the rd a long time and have had it in storage in a friends barn in France for the last 10 yrs. I’m hoping to get it up and running and back to the UK next month. For whatever it is worth Southern California has been UK wet this winter...

How much recommissioning do you think your car will need?

Hi tdskip, well.... its been standing in a garage for 10 yrs but a friend of mine has had it running every now and then. The main issues to get it on the road are: reconditioning the calipers and leaky carb. Replace brake hoses, coolant hoses, change the alternator and belts as well as the usual filters and fluids. I had bought a new soft top when it went to storage but the mice ate it! So it needs a new roof. Fortunately the replacement carpets and seat covers are ok but need fitting. But when the virus subsides I’ll be driving it back without a roof so won’t be doing it in winter... on top if that the paint has some cracks and blisters, so i will need to patch those up before it leaves the garage and gets wet.
I am sure there’s a lot more I’ve forgotten and has yet to rear its ugly head - but I’m hoping that’s enough to get it back to the uk... fortunately i have a friend who is a mechanical genius and is helping me, otherwise the car would be toast...

I am sitting in Austria and here nearly everything is cancelled due to Corona.
I have my Spider ready for inspection (because it is imported from Germany) and register but nobody is working there
