I just picked up an 82 Spider, there is puddles of oil in the spark plugs areas....
The seller said he thinks its just the valve cover gaskets. He said car doesn't use oil and runs very good.....
Engine sounds very strong. Is this common? What else could it be?
It could also be the oil filler cap. They stop sealing after a while. These engines run with high oil pressure. You oughta see what happens when you forget to put the oil cap back on!

oil cap gaskets are a common leaking point; those gaskets are available from vendors. The cam covers can leak as well as the cam housings. Check the tightness of both those items with attention paid to proper torque. The cam seals can also leak causing oil on the front of the motor and blowing back into the front plug wells
