Hi everyone,
just got an 81 FI spider and believe it or not, the starter went out as soon as I bought the car and drove it home. Replaced the starter and now car starts right up again. Anyhow, as I was looking over all the ground points on the car, I noticed that there's a black ground wire by the coil and it's about 3 ft. long. The PO just placed it on top along the firewall.
I've seen on another the post of that ground wire by the coil but the thread did not mention where it should be connected on the other end. Your help would be very much appreciated!
Thank you... Julian

Re: Ground wire by the coil?
Usually connected or nutted on one of the three studs(s)? on the exhaust cam plate, rear. Ground for the engine to chassis. Some owners do other things but this is factory.

Re: Ground wire by the coil?
As stated above that wire is a ground for the coil heat sink which connects to the rear stud on the exhaust cam tower. I can tell you from experience, without it connected you will feel a nice jolt if you ever go to adjustment the distributor with the engine running.
