Hey guys,
So looking to remove whatever smog stuff I can and still drive around while planning the purchase and install of a new carb and intake. My car is a 1979 with the 132-C2.040 (so no smog pump i guess, did only the Cali cars get the smog pump?), my carb is the Weber 28/32 ADHA7 with stock double intake manifold. What provisions or mods can I do ahead of time so that when these new parts arrive I have less to deal with.

I believe that only the California cars had a smog pump in 1979, so is yours a CA car? I don't see the smog pump, but I do see the valve for it on the top of the cylinder head, right next to the #3 spark plug. Was the pump removed? The ADHA carb and its associated manifold were some of the worst performing of all the setups, but it sounds like you've figured that out already.

I don’t think my had the smog pump based on the Fiat manual. My engine is the 132-c2-.040 picture below.
In the same manual it shows the 132-c2.031 with a smog pump, picture below.
Any thoughts on work I can to ahead of the new carb and intake installation…thanks Bryan.

Hmmm, looks like parts #6 and #7 are reed valves for the EGR system and not the smog (air) pump. I have pretty much zero knowledge in this area, but if you search for "reed valve" on this forum you can see how other people have dealt with these emissions systems.
The one piece of advice I can offer is to make sure the vacuum advance for your distributor gets hooked up properly. Parts #1 and #3.

Noted…I guess not much I can remove ahead of the new carb and intake but I can put a plan together first…that should help lol.

Your air injection system has already been removed. The four taps on the head are plugged, located on the head just upstream of the exhaust valves.

Thanks for the post Yadkin….ya definitely looks like it’s been removed. While poking around the engine found that my water pump is leaking…I’ll be starting a new thread lol
