1980 Automatic unique parts
So im just finishing dismantling a 1980 124 spider automatic FI car. I bought it for the rear end which i know is a different ratio than my 79 manual but im good with that. Otherwise when i go to list parts on ebay im thinking ill make an "Auto swap" package and am wondering what all that should include and what you all might think i should ask for it. I wasnt able to start the car before breaking it so not 100% sure the transmission is good but from what ive read they tend not to go bad and the ATF was really clean looking.

Hi ???,
I can not help you with your parts package decision, but why not listing the parts with correct description, so the potential buyer can decide for himself, if its the right part or not?!
Can we get the VIN of the parted out Spider for the worldwide Spider Register? We also documentate "deceased" cars as a hall of fame or shrine.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers and good luck!
Ralf
PS: Is your running Spider already listed in the Register?

List your car with Ralf - and about the tranny,...the TH180 is hard to break (although,...). The Spider does not have the torque to hurt one, and they are almost always re-buildable. Parts are a bit hard to find,...
My car had been 'beat', and yet all I did to my TH180 was to replace the torque converter and to have new seals installed - the 'shift-shaft' seal leaked,...
Best of luck with your car! Enjoy!

Re: 1980 Automatic unique parts
Wow i wish my car still looked that good! The "restoration" this car got before my ownership was lacking any skill to say the least. Its still in Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh.
The 80 was painted orange (original looks like it was green) with a tan interior. I bought it locally too so pittsburgh pa. I actually have a buyer for the whole car so there is a chance it might not meet the cutting torch after all. Ill make sure to mention this site and the registry so he can update it if he ends up going that route.

Re: 1980 Automatic unique parts
There are many parts needed to properly create an auto-swap package
1. Radiator (has a transmission cooler)
2. Radiator transmission cooler lines
3. Speedometer cable
4. Clutch pedal box without the clutch pedal
5. Flex plate (flywheel)
6. Transmission
7. Drive shaft with U joints
8. Transmission kickdown cable
9. Transmission kickdown vacuum line
10. Transmission mount
11. Starter relay
12. Shift lever
13. Shift lever PRNDL cover
14. Transmission (wood) shift plate cover
15. Transmission reverse light switch
That's going off of my memory.
