Normally I would say that the rotating plate inside the distributor is stuck, but you said this is a new distributor? Take off the distributor cap, suck on that hose, and you should see a crescent-shaped metal place inside the distributor rotate counterclockwise. When you open up the hose (stop suckin on it), the plate should snap back. If it doesn't move in either direction, somethings wrong.

So the advance appears to be not working, I replaced it with one that does…test drove the car but sadly the stumble still occurs at high rpm. I would really like to use the accel ignition ( part#35361) module I bought but I can’t get the car to run when I swap it in…the car idles really low and when I try to adjust the rpm idle higher the cars stalls…anybody using this ignition module?
