Just wanted to say hello to everybody here.
Just bought this 1983 Pininfarina Azzura Spider last week.

Original paint, as most of the car is, I was told (not the steering wheel and shift knob though).
I can't wait to drive her. This is going to be one loooong winter

Just kiddin. That is one beautifully taken care of Spider. You should be very proud. Definitely an example of something for most of use to strive towards. Well done.

Welcome to the forum Jazzman. Your car looks terrific! Congratulations. What a pity you have a thing called "winter" up there, I'll think of you as I drive mine the next few months. Also, I've wondered how the Turbo wheels would look with the ends of the spokes painted red; cool.

There are other colors !?!?
I wasn't looking for any particular color.
I wanted a clean, rust free car first and then the color.
Out of the 7 cars I looked at, 4 were red.

Welcome to the site! I agree that winter gives you a nice opportunity to work on the car -- especially projects that can't be done in a weekend. Can't drive it anyway, so might as well take your time, work at your own pace and do it right. If the weather is too nice, I would lose my patience and rush. Pretty amazing the car has survived in a northern climate all these years with originala paint it tact. Is the car originally from Quebec?

I "Carfaxed" the car and I'm the fourth owner.
Brothers (2) had the car from 1983 to 1998 in Côte St-Luc, Montreal.
Then they sold it to a guy in St-Georges-de-Beauce who sold it to me last week.
The car was never winter driven and always garaged.
The paint could use a respray but that's it.
I've checked all the "weak spots" and couldn't find any rust.
I think she's a keeper.

Yes, some of the prettiest Spiders are not red. In fact, much to the shagrin of our '82 fanatic (Ron) most Spiders are something other than Red...

btw- this is all B.S. seems there is just a high concentration of the '82 model year represented by the active forum participants these days....Ron is their unofficial leader.

Jazzman, The reason I decided that '82 was the year I wanted was twofold: I wanted a fuel injected model still made by Fiat. So it had to be '80 (originally sold in California) '81, or '82. From those years I figured i'd get an '82 only because it has the distinction of being the last year Fiat made them. That doesn't make it any more special than any other FI model, but it's fun as a detail I can point out to those uninitiated in Fiatdom. The " '82 is the best Spider ever made" running joke is from a post a while back from someone looking to buy a Spider and asking the members here what they thought the best year(s) would be to look for. There were a lot of opinions, the concensus being that they're all good. I posted that I thought there wasn't any question about it, it's almost universally agreed that '82 is the best year Spider ever made. (I occassionally try to be humorous) And man! Did the fur start flying! All in good fun though. The outcome is a group of '82 owners who are part of a non-club. No meetings, no officers, no dues, no T shirts.
