y'all wear these, right?

When my Brother In Law first got this Fiat I relinquished my hat that was a solid off-white like this. he has lost it, so now i have to get a new one. Am I right in assuming that if you drive a little brittish/italian roadster, convertible, etc that you are required to wear a hat like this?

Am I supposed to get driving "goggles" too?

what about scarves?

I am only kidding of course (kinda), but seriously wondering if you all wear things like this in your fiats...

ps, i really DID just order that hat! well, actually that one was $60, i got a cheaper version!

those do come standard with every English car, including the duster and gauntlet type gloves. Mostly because of the traditional oil leakage from English cars, if you're following one you won't have to worry about rust

we usually wear hats when the top's down. They help alot to keep the sun out of your eyes. Unless your hair's real short, they also help keep it from getting blown around. To answer your question, we don't have hats like yours, but some of our fellow Italian car enthusiasts do.

we all just gotta have the dumb British driving cap. The gloves and tweed jacket are also important and let's not forget that other accessory vital to completing the idiot with the sports car look...

I don't remember his name, but I liked his show (my classic car?). He sure got to drive and ride in some great classics and/or collector cars!

I don't know about anyone else but I think a hat is absolutely essential to driving a convertible. Especially here in Florida. As a balding guy I can tell you there's nothing worse than sunburn on the middle of your head.

I found another good use for a hat. For several months, the vinyl cover was missing from my Spider's passenger-side headrest. I put a hat over the foam, and still won three trophies in car shows. No judge ever asked about the hat, or tried to remove it or peek under it.

I actually bought one of those hats when I was in Ireland...my girlfriend hates it, says it makes me look like an old man, but I love it!

I have a hat of that style for every occasion. I have a wool one very similar to the one you suggest in your picture. Of course, I don't look that good in it.

I also have a VERY faded blue one, cuz blue is Queenie's color and my favorite.

I also have a black leather one for my "bad ass" days.

I still have hair, and to drop the top without a hat swirls the hair around to the point of being a literal pain. Looks are essential, and the practical no-sun is always beneficial.

Many years ago (the mid 1950's) I was in northern Germany and owned a 1957 Triumph TR3. There were no speed limits on German roads and I tried many types of hats (like those shown) but they blew off. A german friend suggested a beret. It works. Protects the hair from the wind and won't blow off at any speed.
