Anyway, here are some details and pictures:
- 1978 fiat spider, Canadian model (as fas as I know) non catalyst
- dual Weber DCNF carbs (I believe ... see photo)
- custom throttle linkage, feels like crap ... hard to press, and makes the car jump (is this a characteristic of the dual carbs?)
- some sort of header going into 2 into 1 going to dual pipes, Y into single pipe, resonator (I think), into an aftermarket dual tip muffler (ANSA?) (see picture)
- all emmisions stuff gone, various hoses seem unplogged, and don't go anywhere
- brake vac booster has a leak. When pressing the brake, you hear it pulsing, and idle drops. Will eventually slow and stall. This can be fixed by playing with the mixture screws on the carbs, but then the car runs worse at WOT.
Anyway, here are some questions for the experts:
- which way do I turn the dist for advance? I believe it's counter-clockwise? So far just played with it a bit by ear.
- The dual DCNFs have 4 mixture screws on them (2 per carb). These also have 4 smaller screws just above the mixture screws (again, 2 per carb). What are these screws?
- What's the linkage on the side of each carb (toward the driver fender)? It's unhooked and changes idle when moved ... is this the manual choke?
- car pops on decel, and kinda bogs on accel. Feels pretty slow, but I have no reference. Sounds great though!
- I assume that the leaking vac booster is causing some of the issues, so I will fix this before I tackle anything else
