When he first arrived in Manotick (near Ottawa), Sam immediately asked to see the “hardwareâ€. I thought he meant tools and other garage stuff, but when we got there he showed me what he really longed to touch, since he had never seen one before...

While we were there, he couldn’t resist playing with the whales...

Back inside the house, Sam discovered his musical side. He really likes the blues...

We went for a sightseeing tour through the village and he demanded that we stop and admire a car. I could swear I heard him say, “Oh Mommy, please?! I promise to be good!â€

On Sunday Sam took the Italian Car Club of Ottawa on a tour through the Gatineau Hills, north of the city, to a member’s cottage.

The tour began at Frank’s Auto Centre, where many of the members have their cars maintained. You might recognize some familiar faces from FFO’s.

There was a fine collection of Italian art at the cottage, where we had lots of socializing and a great Italian BBQ...

...and some of us played bocce (there are a lot of Italians in the club).

On the way home, Sam made me stop at the foot of the statue commemorating Terry Fox, who ran much of the way across Canada with an artificial leg, to raise money and awareness for cancer research. The statue is across the street from Canada’s famous Peace Tower, on Parliament Hill.

Finally, Sam found what he’d come all this way to do – FREEZE HIS LITTLE FUR BALLS OFF!

Who knows where he'll show up next?
