way for the fellow to travel! We were glad to see him though, and he'll be hanging out here
until the bus leaves this Monday. (Yes, we figured he'd like to travel by bus this next leg
of his journey.)
As soon as he saw one of our apple trees, we could see he was hungry. Reminds me of another
bear in another apple tree...

It was hard to get him off the subject of food? Have any of you been feeding him bear food?
I think not !

We headed into town yesterday, and stopped at our favourite coffee joint. "The Stick in the
Mud". (Sam had an espresso, and was kinda wired for the rest of the day.)

Sam had seemed a little down when he arrived. We figured maybe he needed to know that the
good ole U.S.A. was not far away, so we went down to the Sooke Harbour and looked across the
basin at the mountains on the Olympic Peninsula (in Washington State, northwest of Seattle
for those of you who don't know the west coast.) He seemed reassured, although I think I saw
a tear in his eye. Or maybe it was a bit of rain....

Sam, had spotted the horses in our back field, and was feeling brave, so my wife saddled up
Secreto. I think the look on Sam's face tells the story!

Sam looked pooped after all the excitement, so we sat and watched TV with the gang. Then off
to bed.

Today, Sam spent quite a lot of time painting the '81 Spider. I'm a little afraid to look at
the results...

Anyway, Sam disappeared for the evening. I've had a rough week with work and a cold to
contend with, so I agreed to let him go out on his own. I sure hope he stays out of trouble,
'cause we have a trip to downtown Victoria in the plans tomorrow before he heads out on
Monday...
