All I can say is...Oh Sh#t !!!

Leaving it running was probably a good tactic, especially if the tailpipe was under the water. If the motor is shut off, you risk water ingress into the engine through the exhaust. The driver may have thought that he could keep it running until it was pulled out of the water, and save from having more damage to the engine.jimincalif wrote:This was being discussed on a sailing board I frequent, much speculation there about it being an insurance job.
