I never seen one in action but on Overhaulin' Chip Foose puts all the radios in the glove boxes to preserve the dashboards.

I recently re-veneered the metal shift/console cover for my 83 Pinin. I used real walnut and when I did it I just covered over the radio hole (with some additional backing). I removed all the radio circuitry. Then I installed an amp in the truck with a low level feed that I can plug an MP3 player into.

I've been trying to figure out a way to put an inexpensive amplifier in the trunk and then run an RCA jack from the headphone on my Ipod to the amplifier. The only thing that I won't be able to do is adjust the volume on the amp. I need an amplifier that has a remote volume control.

If I was an engineer, I would build and sell an amplifier just like this with a bluetooth connection. The user could sit in the car and turn on the Iphone with bluetooth and it would hook up right away with the amplifier. There would be no worry about the radio and you can get radio, and your own music right through the iphone.

I would like to avoid buying a radio and not have to worry about it being stolen. The punks will steal the radio and buy a new faceplate.
