History last SpiderEuropas (1985)

Firstly, a thank you for all the welcomes... You certainly feel at home on this site.

Regarding the history of the 1985.5 cars... I've already learned a lot reading posts from other members (notably Darsella 1, thanks) but...
Does anyone know exactly where the spiders were built when badged by Pininfarina? Did they have only one production site and does anyone know the name and location? Did Pininfarina assemble ALL the spiders, even pre 1982 or were they built/assembled in a Fiat factory pre 1982??

Lots of questions I know but I find the whole thing fascinating. What really amazes me is "why did Pininfarina go to so much trouble to make so many changes on their last cars (1985.5s) if production was to stop in July 1985"? Strange no?

I'm not a history buff but if anyone can shed any light on all this i'd be grateful.

The spider was much to expensive an really old car. They sold it bad. Pininfarina decide to build the Cadillac Allanté

Pininfarina and Fiat produced all spiders in Turin (Pininfarina exactly in Grugliasco near Turin). I read somewhere which things are build at fiat and which things by pininfarina.

Thanks Zmatt. Unfortunately, I can take absolutely no credit. I found the car in this state having been cared for by 2 previous (meticulous) Swiss owners. She's completely original as far as I can see. I can't wait to get her home and out on the roads this Spring.

Maybe it wasn't a good idea buying a "Swiss" spider after all!

Let me know what tyres you use in the snow. It could come in handy...

It was a friend's car. He ran normal Continental winter tires on steel wheels. Personally, I would not run a Fiat through the winter. His was speckled with rust dots after one season. My Coupe goes into hibernation from November - March.

(and we are not so negligent... just surprised by a freak overnight snowstorm).

I figured it must have been a freak situation Redline... I was starting to get worried about the Swiss!
I made the mistake of running my previous Spider in the winter and she didn't take to the salted roads at all. The "new" car is definately Spring through Autumn only ...
