New dash/Console Mod's

Post by SpiderJim »

See pic for rough concept of dash and console (in red) based on that cool contoured dash we all drool over. I'm thinking to split the console just before the shifter area in front of the hand brake then combine the cut part with the upper console all as one unit with integrated cup holder for my warm Brit beer on a cool day... When parked of course! The curved shifter section will be in burl walnut with an aluminum ring around the shift boot and will be removable independent of the rest for servicing. The curved instrument area will also be burl with the contoured main section in maybe carbon fiber or textured then colored. All idiot lights and switches relocated into single uniform segments as shown. Just a rough idea so ideas or critique welcome. You may notice no radio as I will install an ipod dock.
P.S. Thanks to whomever the interior picture belongs to that I used for reference.

Looks interesting, Jim. Why not a spot for a radio with FM & CD as well as an integrated I Pod dock. Saw one the other day that was also bluetooth enabled for handsfree cell. With just an Ipod dock, don't you still need some kind of amplifier to get the sound to your speakers? I'm thinking about taking a day off the basement project and coming up your way for a drive tomorrow afternoon to check on your progress - if you're going to be around. Might even bring a Guinness...
